cosmetic dentistry faq: Is there alot of pain in a tooth crown procedure?
back to the Cosmetic Dentistry FAQ
Is there alot of "pain in a tooth crown" procedure?
When applying a porcelain crown to a patient, the dentist often has to remove an additional layer of enamel and tooth mass for the naturally translucent porcelain to appear visually pleasing. This process can be painful especially around the area where the tooth meets the gum. Gingival inflammation is a common side effect. You should talk to your dentist about ways to prevent this from becoming a problem.
